This ornate type of Roman Cavalry helm was intended for ceremonies and sporting games and it gives its wearer a mythic and heroic aura during an event – this reproduction is based on an original that was found in Ribchester, England. The helm is crafted from 18 gauge brass and is heavily embossed with scenes of martial combat. The faceplate is crafted from thick aluminum that has been polished to give it the appearance of silver – the mask is embellished with a painted brass headband and hair. The cast brass piece on the forehead is made in the sneering visage of a mythical character. A leather band fitted around pins secures the mask of this two-part helm to the brass helmet. The interior of the helmet is unlined and blackened – included with the helmet is separate padded cotton arming cap.
