The clutch pack of the S-tronic transmission is among the major weak points of this system and is known for premature wear. The system uses two wet multi-plate clutches that are exposed to high thermal and mechanical loads during continuous operation. Thermal overload, insufficient pressure regulation, and constant slipping at low speeds lead to worn separator plates, heat-damaged clutch packs, and inconsistent clutch behavior. This manifests as juddering during take-off, slipping under load, and erratic shifting, especially in stop-and-go traffic.
