Age of Craft – HMB Kusnacht Brigandine Type 1 – 21 Gauge Tempered Spring Steel

The Kusnacht Brigandine Armor from Age of Craft is constructed for HMB (Historical Medieval Battles) sport combat; it is fashioned from segmented plates of tempered 21 gauge steel which are stoutly riveted to a durable canvas base which is stitched and riveted to an outer shell of thick woolen cloth. A set of four straps with adjustable steel buckles at each side make this armor easy to don and adjust to size. Age of Craft based this armor on a 14th century historical example from Kusnacht castle in Switzerland. Brigandine armor provided excellent protection at cost, as evidenced by its widespread use by common soldiers and men at arms by the 15th and 16th centuries as well as knights and nobles who could afford more finely crafted Brigandine armor.
