This Roman Republic Shield is crafted from poplar wood and is backed with tightly fitted linen. It is hand-painted and finished with riveted brass edges and a large shield boss of steel. On its reverse the shield is reinforced with bands of wood and has a rounded, horizontal grip of wood. Please Note: it is common for this item to have patination on the brass shield rim and shield boss – it can be cleaned to a bright sheen with polishing paste and scuff pads.
